I told Mom that I would post pictures from my quilting, so the rest of you will have to endure it for her:)
So I was practicing and first stitched in the ditch. Following the pattern my blocks made and staying on the side that didn't have the seam pressed to it.

Next I did some crosshatching. This is where you place 1 inch painters tape across the corners of a block. Then place another piece of tape next to that one. Continue placing tape on each side till you cover the block except for one corner. This is where you start sewing. Sew just next to the line the tape makes.

Remove the tape as you go.
I just have to remember to not remove tape if I still need it as a line marker! When you come to the end of the block you either sew in the ditch or right next to the edge. Once you sew each line then you are ready to tape in the other direction and sew again.

I love the look of this!

You can use regular masking tape but it may leave some residue whereas the painters tape wont.

Do you do this with each square or just certain ones? That is so cool

It just depends on what look you want. This was practice so I did two opposite squares and tried another technique on the other two.
